My biggest fashion challenge is always transition pieces.
I can do winter just fine and spring just fine, but those days in early March when it’s too cool to break out the floral DVF wrap dress but too nice for the black turtleneck sweater dress, here are some tried and true tricks I’ve employed.
1. Wear a “pretty” trench coat – whatever pretty means to you – pretty color, pretty details, or a pretty fabric. Anything other than the camel you’ve been wearing all winter. A pretty denim jacket works too.
2. Find Yourself Some Florals – even if you’re not a “floral” person. I tend to pick something vibrant or over the top 🤷🏽♀️, but a tiny subtle print on a shirt, or bag can go a long way to spring up a look.
3. Pastel-up a basic – that foundation basic, the turtleneck sweater dress, may work as a transition piece if it’s in a light pastel pink or blue.
4. Add yellow anything – it works! Whether it’s basic boots (see tip 3) or a playful scarf or even jewelry, it doesn’t matter what the yellow item is, you immediately FEEL and therefore look, springier. 🌸
