So, Italian vibes again!
6 THINGS ABOUT PIZZA
1. pizza should be eaten woth your hands
2. it’s common here to eat a whole pizza per person – I know, it’s hypercaloric, but once a while it’s not bad at all sometimes restaurants make gigante pizza, that is bigger than a normal one and made to be shared when you want to eat different toppings
3. pineapple doesn’t belong to pizza, and I have nothing to add about
4. there are several kind of pizza: napoletana, made in Naples, has a huge border; pizza fritta, also in Naples, is deep fried; pizza romana, from Rome, is thinner and crunchier; pinsa, also made in Rome, is more like a rectangular crunchy focaccia with topping. My favourite is the romana
5. if you ask for a pepperoni pizza, you will recive a pizza topped with bell peppers (that here are called peperoni) the pizza you are seeking for is called pizza con salame (it’s not salami: it is salame!) or diavola, that is a pizza with spicy salame and sometimes peppers
6. personal opinion: altough they are pretty common, pizza with chips and wurstel and sweet pizza (like topped with nutella, kinder snacks and so on) are just GROSS
My favourite pizza is vegetariana, made with vegetables (usually courgettes, aubergines, bell peppers and mushrooms) and buffalo milk mozzarella. I also love quattro formaggi (made with at least 4 cheeses, including mozzarella and gorgonzola, with no tomato sauce) or porcini and tartufo (with porcini mushrooms and truffle sauce and sometimes flakes, again with no tomato sauce, I don’t like it very much on pizza ). I prefer pizza romana or pinsa since I think Naples’ pizza is really too heavy, and also because I want to eat mostly the toppings and not a huge border
but it’s just my personal taste!
