There are two designers named Valentino and they are duking it out in the courts.
There is not an agreement: the battle continues between Mario Valentino and Valentino
Mario Valentino, is the older brand and sells luxury bags, shoes, and clothing. Mario Valentino had been using the brand name “Valentino” for I think about 12 years before Valentino Garavani, noted for his signature red gowns and Rockstud line of handbags and shoes came along.
Both are luxury brands but Valentino Garavani was required by European courts agreement to use their full name on their products. Over the years, the Valentino Garavani brand became the more popular and more expensive and blatantly ignoring the copyright agreement started selling their goods under the name “Valentino”. Then they started using a “V” as their logo as Mario Valentino had been from the inception.
This pissed off the Mario Valentino people who promptly took Valentino Garavani to court. As their lawyers battle it out, Mario Valentino people are now suing retailers who sell Valentino Garavani products under the name “Valentino” claiming counterfeiting. 😳🤨
