While I'm usually a practical person in skin care and only buy products that I need and that I will use repeatedly, there are still times when it is difficult to resist pretty packaging. This is where Daymellow comes in. My co-editor Dianne tried the brand's soothing gels a while back and raved about the packaging and formulas that contain luxurious ingredients like gold and silver flakes and diamond powder. Given that we're ending our classic blue year, now is a good time to try two ultra-aesthetic products from daymellow's best-selling BlueMarine collection: the Restorative Wash-Off Pack and Cloud Cream!
Both products are formulated with the unique ingredient Bluemarine Complex, which consists of deep sea water from the Korean island of Ulleung, aquaceramide and guaiazulene to bring moisture, minerals and nutrients deep into the skin while strengthening the skin barrier. The Bluemarine Complex also increases skin regeneration to help prevent aging and soothe eczema and irritation.
BlueMarine Restorative Wash-Off Pack
This washable jelly pack comes in a tall white tub with a plastic spatula and offers concentrated skin care for effective skin regeneration. The pack is suitable for people with dull, dry, sensitive, bumpy or rough skin and ensures soft, smooth and elastic skin. It is formulated with Natural Moisturizing Factor and Ceramide NP that moisturize the skin by forming a protective film to prevent evaporation. The ingredients also include algae extract to soothe and care for dry and irritated skin and tea tree extract to control excess sebum and oil and to protect against external irritations. The slightly acidic formula, which is free of ethanol and menthol, offers gentle cleansing while maintaining the skin's natural balance.
Aside from its turquoise hue, which reminds me of crystal clear water on a remote island, my favorite piece about this pack is the scent, which smells clean and fresh like body soap. The dense jelly texture is fun too and is a rarity in my skin care collection.
To use this mask, scoop up a moderate amount with the spatula, spread it over the skin, and leave for 15 to 20 minutes. Since I don't have much extra time in the morning, I saved this package for relaxing nights to replace sheet masks. I was surprised to see that once the jelly was scooped out, it lost its blue hue and became mostly translucent. It gave off a cool and tingly feeling as it tightened my skin. The wrap quickly dried into a thin, barely-there layer and stayed firmly on the skin without rubbing off, making it easy for you to get on with whatever you did. The wash off process was easy and the mask did not leave a sticky feeling.
According to the product description, the pack made my skin clean, refreshed and smooth, even though it wasn't quite as moisturizing as expected. After prolonged use, my oily skin became calm and clear with a refined texture, although I would have liked more changes in softness and elasticity.
BlueMarine Cloud Cream
This cream comes in an elegant, clear jar and contains coconut extract to moisturize, soothe acne, repair damaged skin and improve skin elasticity. It's enriched with meadow foam seed oil to create a moisture barrier for glowing skin and extracts of aloe vera and turmeric to soothe irritated skin with antibacterial properties. Guaiazulene gives anti-inflammatory properties and gives the cream its characteristic blue hue! It promises deep and long-lasting hydration, nutrition and elasticity without leaving a greasy feeling.
This aptly named cloud cream is available in the most beautiful deep cornflower blue that exudes a dreamy atmosphere floating in the clouds. It has the same nice scent as the washing up pack, although I found the aroma of the cream to be milder and less sweet. So, if you are not a fan of strong fragrances, this is it. Since the cream is quite thin, it dissolves quickly and its color dissolves when you rub it into the skin.
The product description states that the mild texture makes the skin cool and fresh, but despite the light consistency it left a slightly oily, heavy feeling on my skin that lingered after a full night's sleep. Fortunately, I found this cream more moisturizing than the washing-up pack. Also, since using it, my skin has become lighter with less acne.
When I used the cream in conjunction with the wash-up pack, I enjoyed a double dose of the effects of the Bluemarine Complex and was awarded with happy, satisfied skin – a great way to end the year.
