Risque Rose

Pat McGrath Risque Rose Heavenly Divinity Luxe Eye Shadow QuadPat McGrath Risque Rose Heavenly Divinity Luxe Eye Shadow Quad ($ 58.00 for 0.24 oz.) Is a new limited palette that includes a lighter pink, duochrome silver-lavender, rich reddish brown, and a metallic rose. The only shade that struggled was lavender as it had much greater sheen, which caused dropouts (both during application and throughout wear). As a result, it was not that easy to use and is best used with an adhesive base.

Rose riot

Rose riot is a light, medium-dark fuchsia pink with cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had a subtle satin sheen that gave it a touch of sheen when compared to mink noir, but in practice it worked more like a matte than a shimmer shade.

It had an opaque color coverage that adhered well to bare skin and faded out without difficulty. The texture was smooth, slightly creamy, but not too dense or too thick in consistency. The eyeshadow wore well for nine and a half hours before fading a touch.

Pat McGrath's eyeshadows are generally said to be "super saturated" with "creamy, soft textures" and "extreme mixability and adhesion without wrinkles". How well they work (and, to some extent, how they're supposed to be applied and marketed) depends a lot on the nature of the colors, but on the whole the eyeshadows work very well as described.

The brand released individual eyeshadows in March 2019, and the colors were consistent in quality, look, and feel. They are unfortunately not removable, so you would have to deposit individual eyeshadows like any other – I tried using tweezers and lifting multiple shades to no avail. The lids are held closed by a weak magnet, so I'm not sure they're as secure as most of the individual eye shadow compacts in my stash – I wish they really clicked into place, but there's definitely a magnet out there that can Pulls lid down if it is within 2mm of the base.

The mats are velvety, mixable, and dense without being thick or heavy, and they have a semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation where a little with some of the deeper and richer hues can go a long way. The satin and pearl surfaces are smooth, slightly creamy and firmer, but not dense or thick with good pigmentation, mixability and easy application. The more metallic surfaces are usually softer, creamier and smoother with a little more density and no powderiness. The sparkling / glittering hues are often designed to be wet-applied for richer coverage or intensity, which was mostly my experience. Most colors last between eight and nine hours.

Lavendering

Lavendering more of a translucent base that looked like a cooler lavender gray, applied with a heavy dose of sparkles that changed from cool purple to cool pink. The consistency was slightly pliable, dense, but not excessively firm, so that it was not prone to failure and had good adhesion to bare skin. However, you might prefer to apply them with an adhesive spray to ensure longevity and minimize breakdowns.

It had an almost opaque cover that was applied both dry and wet, although I noticed that the wet application seemed to disperse the sparkle a bit, resulting in sharper coverage overall. There were slight outages during use, and while the majority hung around a good nine hours, there were some outages over time. I imagine that those who don't mind falling out or taking preventive measures to overcome it will enjoy this shade as it had a strong shift and a sparkling effect.

Mink Noir

Mink Noir is a rich burgundy brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had an opaque pigmentation that was evenly applied to bare skin and easily faded out without losing intensity or having problems with dropouts. The texture felt velvety and smooth, dense but mixable, which makes it easy to work with. This hue lasted well for nine hours before fading a little.

Life on mars

Life on mars is a medium-sized, rosy copper with warmer undertones and an intense, shiny finish. The texture was smooth, slightly creamy, but not as dense as most of the brand's shimmers, which made it a little easier to fade out (not that the normal shimmers are difficult at all). The eyeshadow resulted in an opaque pigmentation in a single layer that lasted well for nine and a half hours before visibly fading.
