I finally came across a Korean brand that clearly shows itself to be a clean beauty brand! With safe and hypoallergenic formulas that help the skin return to its original state, ROVECTIN's offerings may not be unusual or versatile enough for some, but the most important thing is that they all adhere to a strict safety standard.

ROVECTIN's journey began when founder Lee Sung-soo tried to develop the Anti-Irritant Barrier Repair Ultra Cream for his sister, who suffered from a dry and weakened skin barrier due to cancer treatment. All products are as gentle as possible and contain transparent, minimalist ingredient lists that are free of parabens, chemical dyes, synthetic fragrances, petrochemicals, formaldehyde, drying alcohols and animal ingredients.

I was plagued by sensitive skin all my life and almost drooled when I found out about the clean line of the brand, which is cruelty-free, has been classified as vegan-friendly by The Vegan Society and uses only green-quality EEC ingredients used. The line currently offers two products – an ampoule and a cream, and it is only natural that I try both!

The packaging

Before I go into detail about my experience with the two products, I would first like to put the spotlight on the packaging, which is made from biodegradable recycled paper printed with soy ink. Don't throw them in the trash yet – there's a big sticker in them! With cute and happy motifs such as unicorn, rabbit (symbol for cruelty-free products), flamingo, rainbow, plants, letters and blank labels, these stickers are perfect for attaching to the product itself or to customize your stationery and phone case!

Main ingredients: 85% neroli (bitter orange) flower water, 2% glutathione + niacinamide, 0.1% LHA (lipohydroxy acid), 5 types of hyaluronic acid

I love how the ampoule is formulated WITHOUT all the masking ingredients that are normally found in other beauty products. What you get is a small bottle of colorless, odorless, slightly viscous liquid that your skin may really need! The texture may be a bit sticky for some, but I found it just right for my dry skin.

Although both the LHA Blemish Ampoule and the Lotus Water Cream are aimed at oily and combination skin, I was pleasantly satisfied with their performance on my dry and sensitive skin. A major component of this ampoule is LHA. For those who fear that AHAs and BHAs are too strong for your skin, LHAs are a great option. Like PHAs, they are less acidic than AHAs and BHAs, absorb more slowly into the skin and do not cause sensitivity to light. Another main ingredient is neroli flower water with anti-inflammatory properties. The ampoule also contains glutathione and niacinamide for lightening and hyaluronic acid for moistening.

After a week, I found my skin to be smoother and more supple. Best of all, my blemishes slowly faded! The change was gradual but steady.

Main ingredients: 75% lotus flower water, 2% AQUAXYL (birch extract) + niacinamide, 1% sweet almond oil

I think it's great that the cream is contained in a standpipe, which saves space on my washstand. Like the ampoule, it is formulated with only a few basics. It contains 1% sweet almond oil, but the scent is barely noticeable. There is nothing to complain about in terms of texture. A little watery, but not gel-like (which means it isn't sticky), it dissolves quickly without leaving any residue.

Instead of neroli, this cream uses lotus flower water to cleanse the skin. It also contains AQUAXYL, a patented birch ingredient rich in NMF (natural moisture factor) to help retain moisture.

I use this cream not only as the last step in my skin care day and night, but whenever I want. It is ideal for the summer when more watery products are generally preferred.

The judgment

If you suffer from sensitive skin and have difficulty finding products, clean beauty is definitely the way to go. For me, this clean line from ROVECTIN lives up to its reputation because it is not only irritating, but also honestly effective. I really hope that the brand will bring more clean products to market over time!
