Kosa's 8th Muse (High Intensity) Cream Blush

8. Muse (high intensity)

Kosa's 8th Muse (High Intensity) color and light palette ($ 34.00 for 0.32 oz.) Is the more intense cover version of the shade and contains a light pink blush paired with a mother-of-pearl, warm rose marker. The blush lived up to its "high intensity" descriptor and was fairly pigmented, but the highlighter appeared to be semi-transparent to medium-sized and didn't build much beyond the medium coverage. The highlighter was not as easy to apply as the blush, but both were easy to apply and lasted eight hours with me.

8. Muse (high intensity) (blush)

8. Muse (high intensity) (blush) is a deep pink with subtle, cool undertones and a satin finish. At first it looked damp, but after it was applied and spread over my skin, it dried out and had a more satin finish – skin-like but not wet looking.

It had semi-opaque to opaque coverage in a single layer, which was definitely "twice as much pigment" compared to the regular version of this shade, and it was also much deeper and lighter. I felt that for those who wanted a lighter or sheer pink, a lighter hand was needed to achieve this. Therefore, it was best suited for those who want or need greater intensity.

The product spread slightly while shimmering a bit, but definitely retained a lot of pigment. I had no problems applying this to bare skin or on foundation. It stayed a good eight and a half hours before it visibly faded.

Formula overview

Each hue in the area has two levels of color intensity. Each shade has a "High Intensity" version that offers "twice as much pigment" as the normal shade (which has a less intense, "buildable" coverage). The formula is intended to provide an "easy-to-apply, mixable" blush that is combined with a "complementary" highlighter.

In my experience, the high intensity version offered more pigmentation, but also a more saturated representation of the color scheme. It felt more like a certain color combination would work for both lighter and deeper skin tones, rather than just doubling the pigment. The regular shades were semi-transparent to medium-sized and buildable. The high intensity hues definitely had a higher coverage and were typically semi-opaque to opaque.

The consistency was creamy with moderate slip and felt like a traditional cream brush (wet to touch, smooth and thin). They are mostly easy to apply to bare skin and over primer, although some shades could have been easier to work with foundation products. The shimmering hues (like highlighters) felt a bit smoother than cream-colored hues (like blush).

Since it is a creamier product, they shimmer well during use and can be mixed well. Therefore, a second layer must often be applied to increase the opacity (instead of applying more) if a higher opacity is desired (less required for high shades).

The formula dried out for the most part, but didn't look completely flat or matt. As a result, they did not slide around easily on my skin when worn. Most of the colors showed signs of fading after seven to eight hours of wear, which for me are most cheek colors.

8. Muse (high intensity) (highlighter)

8. Muse (high intensity) (highlighter) is a light medium pink with strong, warm undertones and a bright shine. The texture was moderately smooth, creamy, and light, but seemed to show quite a bit in practice, so at first it seemed semi-transparent to medium-sized, but it was definitely in action. It was a bit buildable, but for me it developed no more than a medium cover.

The product was easy to apply to bare skin, but I had to be more careful with base products as it seemed to be more prone to lifting my foundation. It went well for eight hours before visibly fading on my skin.
