The emerging Korean brand BLACK ROUGE has quickly built a reputation for offering fun, cheeky, and affordable makeup, and its Power Proof Stick Shadow proves it. These creamy, glittery eyeshadow pencils are available in four delicious colors: champagne (whitish gold), peach cream (warm gold), rose cocktail (rose gold) and chocolate mousse (brown). They are what I have always wanted in my make-up bag – moody but very wearable colors that continue with a simple wipe mix. Not only do they eliminate the need for a special eye make-up brush that is perfect for someone as lazy as me, they are also great for touch-ups at lunchtime. Plus, I'm more than a little excited about the crazy amount of glitter that went into these phrases!

Never a big experimenter, I've always kept things simple, with a dash of liquid eyeliner, some high-performance mascara and the occasional powder eyeshadow in proven colors. With the promise of bursting my eyes without being too special, the eye shadow pencils from BLACK ROUGE seem to be the perfect springboard for a whole new world of bold eye make-up looks. Read on to see how my company has done in glittering territory!

1. Formulation and pigmentation:

The glitter to pigment ratio is quite high, with the glitter appearing in large spots rather than fine powder. If you want a clean, concentrated dash of color or a subtly shimmering shine, this is probably not the right product for you. However, if you're looking for a really sparkling look that draws attention to your eyes without overwhelming your facial features, this could be your dream phrase.

2. Liability and permanent wear:

The eyeshadow stuck well to my eyelids and moved minimally on a long day. As a precaution, I applied eye shadow primer and was overall satisfied with how resistant this formulation was to sweat and sebum! At the end of the day, I still had a subtle but distinct wash of color over my lids.

3. Smoothness and ease of use:

Using fingers to mix cream formulations can be a hit or miss. In this case, a little finesse is needed to achieve a natural graded effect, as the glittering formulation doesn't spread too easily. But you can also simply take the other route – just choose a strong, glittering color strip! It will create a more emphatic, if less delicate, look.

4. Completion:

Compared to powder eyeshadow, the finish is less precise because you apply it with a rotating tube instead of a brush. Because of this, you run the risk of getting glitter on other parts of your face while applying. However, once you've repaired the eyeshadow and successfully fixed the spill, there will be little product transfer later.

5. Drama quotient and portability:

Though these eyeshadows are loaded with glitter, they still remain subtle, making them great for everyday wear and perfect for the transition from day to evening. In fact, all four colors tend to be warm neutrals that offer understated glamor. If you want to increase the drama quotient, I recommend adding a matte base color before stacking up the glittery goodness. It will add extra dimension!

The information about all colors

Champagne No. 1: The brightest of all four shades tends to whitish gold and is likely to work better on people with lighter skin. Still, I think it's great how it can be added to darker, denser colors to add depth and dimension.

# 2 peach cream: A warm, copper-colored gold that goes well with a range of skin tones and looks. It gives an extra shine to a daytime look and is at the same time glamorous enough for an evening rendezvous. A fail-safe choice.

# 3 Pink Cocktail: This is my favorite shade of all. The perfect balance between girlish and minxical, it really brings out the brown-black of my eyes and at the same time softens the paleness of my skin. When you add pink and shiny lips, you get a look that's spring-ready!

# 4 chocolate mousse: A deliciously muted brown that can be layered to create a soft smoky eye. This is my second favorite from the pile. It is more milk tea than chocolate mousse when it is hidden. It offers a solid color wash for those days when you want a more mature look.

Final judgment:

I am happy to report that two of BLACK ROUGE's eye shadow pens (guess which two?) Made the final cut for stains in my make-up bag. They definitely give my eyes a subtle, lasting splash of color, while they work well even on a minimally painted face. The only downside is that despite its portability, I probably won't go for such a glittery look every day. If your goal is to vary your eye makeup look, a palette of matte, shimmering, and glittery formulations is probably still your best bet. But to instantly give your eyes an electric charge, these nifty, sparkling sticks are just the ticket.
