Green lights

Charlotte Tilbury Green Lights Color Magic Liner Duo ($ 30.00 for 0.03 oz.) Has a shimmering olive green hue on one side of the pen and a coordinating, matte, deep green on the other side. Both had more buildable coverage than bam! opaque coverage in a single stroke. However, if you tend to use shorter, overlapping strokes, coverage is better (especially if it's a thin line from a normal viewing distance versus a close-up swatch).

The texture of the matte shade was firmer, so applying it wasn't uncomfortable, but it only touched it. Both colors had a longer lifespan, even if they weren't quite as long as claimed (16 hours).

Green lights (metallic)

Green lights (metallic) is a medium olive green with moderate, warm undertones and a soft, metallic sheen. It had a semi-opaque pigmentation that could be completely covered with a second layer. The texture had a slight glide, so that it did not pull on my lower lash line during application, but settled very quickly.

The fading became visible after 10½ hours of wear and deteriorated further from there, so that after 16 hours of wear it was still about 50% visible, it was definitely significantly faded / thinned.

Formula overview

– –

The formula is said to "stay all day" (specifically listed as "up to 16 hours"), which "glides" and is "smudge-proof, waterproof and moisture-resistant". The majority of the shades had a semi-opaque to opaque buildable cover that was easy to get to, and when applied in shorter, overlapping strokes, they looked like full cover.

The texture of the mats felt a little firmer, and although I had no problem with the tip breaking off when I used it as the actual eyeliner (on my lower lash line), I had two out of four shades when I went around it to put my arm. The matt shades tended to last a little longer, with a solid wear of 10 to 12 hours, with a color of 50% or more being visible after 16 hours. After 12 to 14 hours there was minimal migration / movement around my outer corner.

The metal tones had a little more lubricity so that they were smearable, but they didn't feel excessively slippery and stayed in place well. I felt they had a similar wearing time of 10 to 12 hours with 50% or more color still visible after 16 hours. After 16 hours of wear, there was less movement / migration over time to the outer corners with the metallics compared to the matte colors.

Green lights (matt)

Green lights (matt) is a deep green with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had a buildable cover from more opaque to opaque, which was definitely the cleanest and the most, even when used as an eyeliner (e.g. as a product line), than a larger area (like anywhere on the lid; though this formula is much too stiff for all-over lid use!).

The consistency had very little glide, so while applying was not uncomfortable, a slight pull occurred when I tried to apply it in a longer, more fluid stroke, as opposed to shorter, overlapping strokes (the latter was my preference) in general and also the best way to get a richer and more uniform coverage!). It was still largely intact after 12 hours and although I would not say that it was solid after 16 hours, color was still visible.
